Exodus 19.1-8
The third month after the Israelites from the land of Egypt, on that very day, they came into the wilderness of Sinai. Raised journeyed from Rephidim, they came to the desert of Sinai, they camped; Israel encamped before the mountain.
Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, "Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the Israelites: You have seen what I did to the Egyptians and how I bore you on eagles' wings, and I have facts come up to me.
Now if you will obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my own possession among all peoples, for Mine is all the earth!
You shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These words you shall speak to the Israelites. "
Moses came and called the elders of the people and set before them all these words which the Lord had commanded. And all the people answered with one voice: "All that the Lord has spoken we will do '.
Moses returned to the Lord and told him the words of the people.
With the revelation to Moses, the twelve tribes of Israel become a people, and receive the Constitution. the alliance's commitment is established, with the Lord God and to each other.
Still a hill, from which rise blazes burning (Ex 19,16-25). At the foot of the rise eleven men and Miriam, outside a tent tossed by the wind. Moses stands before the fire.
From the sky and from the fire comes out of God's hand writing with his finger on two tablets of the Law (Ex 31,18).
