3. THE EXODUS

THE EXODUS
'The Israelites went on dry land in the midst of the sea' (Ex 14,29)

(From the Bible the work reference tracks produced by Mosaic School of Friuli and, in short, the comment / explanation of Paolo Orlando author of the artworks. Ph.: Ulderica Da Pozzo).

Ex. 14.26 / 15.2
The Lord said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots and their horsemen." Moses stretched out his hand over the sea and the sea, in the cool of the morning, he returned to his usual level, while the Egyptians fled against it directed against.
The Lord swept them into the sea as well. The waters returned, and covered the chariots and the horsemen of all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after Israel: not one of them escaped one. Instead the children of Israel went on dry land in the sea, and the waters were for them a wall on the right and left.
In that day the Lord saved Israel from the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore; Israel saw the great power with which the LORD had acted against the Egyptians, and the people feared the Lord and believed in him and in his servant Moses.
Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord and said, "I will sing to the Lord: for he hath triumphed, has thrown into the sea horse and rider.
My strength and my courage is the Lord, he saved me. It is my God and I will praise him, is the God of my father and I will exalt him "

Moses is depicted in the first Passover celebration in attitude similar to that of the risen Jesus. It is the celebrated leader of the Exodus, the winner over the Egyptians, finished submerged in the Red Sea. Miriam, his sister, rejoices and thanks God for the defeat of the persecutors and the liberation from bondage.
In the upper part of the scene, Moses raises his cane; It is placed on a small hill with two groups of people - a total of 11 persons, one group on the left and one on the right - among them Miriam dancing with a tambourine. Below, however, the Egyptians submerged by the waves.
