Casa delle Esposizioni – Piazza don G.B.Piemonte – ILLEGIO (UD), Tolmezzo
Richness perennial dilemma
The new major exhibition in Illegio curated by Don Alessio Geretti, "RICHNESS. Dilemma perenne" is the new proposal that Illegio is preparing and that can be visited from next 6 June (the inauguration is scheduled for that Friday at 1800) until 9 November 2025.
As many as 52 masterpieces will be on display, chosen for a journey of beauty spanning five hundred years, starting from the mid-15th century and ending in the mid-20th century.
The exciting surprises of this exhibition Caravaggio - the very famous “Boy bitten by a lizard”, a meditation on the dangerous attraction of material goods -, Titian - two spectacular works -, Rembrandt - a panel on which his brush touched the summit of the most moving mysticism between light, penumbra and intensity of the characters on stage -, Pieter Brueghel the Elder - in an unpublished painting, populated and festive as only he knew how to conceive -, but also Pelizza da Volpedo - the central character in one of the most powerful and iconic paintings of the 20th century, “The Fourth Estate”, whose main figure was anticipated by the artist, life-size, in the work that the exhibition will unveil -, Pablo Picasso - another previously unpublished work that can be admired at the exhibition in Illegio - and Renato Guttuso - in a colourful fragment of Sicily presented in the provocative contrast between wealth and misery -; and again, Lorenzo Lotto, Filippino Lippi, Giovanni Bellini, Mattia Preti.
The exhibition will offer a unique opportunity to enjoy 17 works that come from secret collections, never accessible to the public.
The exhibition will also strike the mind and heart with its intriguing and topical theme, wealth in human life and in the affairs of the world, a theme chosen by Illegio first and foremost because at this critical moment it is necessary to reflect on the two possible effects, one good the other evil, that the verb to have generates in our lives.
The exhibition in Illegio will hearten, on the one hand, and send out a strong ethical and spiritual message, on the other: we will feel it is an act of love and intelligence, as well as beauty, offered to all through the splendour of works that we never thought we would see in Friuli.
