THE LAST JUDGEMENT

"The Last Judgement" (M. Buonarroti, 1536-1541)

Choosing the type of works that over time will be to furnish and enrich some houses of the streets of the village has looked back to history and to the large architectural heritage still preserved in the small community. And from the past showed that in Cercivento di Sopra in ancient Carnic house, dated 1577 until 1882 there was a ceramics factory that had started its operations in 1750. The clay was collected in locations Gjai di Mieç (in the Place dai Papavars) beyond the torrent Gladegna. Just crossed the threshold of the porch, on the left, the building was used as a workshop and kiln; the two settling tanks in which the clay was purified from impurities from the garden are now occupying. The 'Citârs' factory produced vases for every need, holy water fonts, frames and tiles; the market crossed the borders of the region. Some works can still be seen in the external wall: the group of statues representing St. John, the Holy Spirit with two angels, Christ Crucified and Our Lady. In the facade that faces the inner courtyard still a fragment with Christ Crucified and two Marys.
Hence the decision to revive with new technologies, a few steps from 'Citârs', the stupendous work of Michelangelo the 'Last Judgement' in a large mosaic (5,10 x 5,70 m) consists of ceramic tiles. Development of the project foresees the same square at the foot of the 'Last Judgement' a singular representation of hell and laterally, on the wall of two buildings, a work depicting paradise and a special and meaningful image formed by many small pictures of people yesterday and today made it alive over the centuries, this small community.
